In version 2.11.1.1 on a TextInput field, if a value includes a dash character ("-") the saved variable is parsed like it is a number. The results I've generated are something like "NoSpaceOrDash" results in "NoSpaceOrDash" "BeforeDash-AfterDash" results in "0" "BeforeDash-2345" results in "-12345" TextInputField.xml (764 B)

This happens in all versions. This is happening because the value is evaluated as an expression by VBScript (as you noted) and since the expression contains a minus sign, the evaluation results in the value of 0.
You can either surround your value with quotes or set the DontEval attribute to True on the TSvar Action element.
